FERNANDO YÉVENES UGARTE

Fernando Yévenes U. is a distinguished Structural Engineer with over 24 years of experience spearheading high-complexity projects across the mining, energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors throughout the Americas. As the founder of FYU engineering he combines deep technical mastery with a strategic "owner’s mindset" to deliver resilient and optimized structural solutions.

Beyond his role at FYU engineering, Fernando holds a high-level executive position at GHD, serving as an Associate, Shareholder, and the Structures Service Line & Design Discipline Leader for the Americas. In this capacity, he leads multidisciplinary teams across the continent, driving technical excellence and standardizing engineering methodologies for global collaboration.

His leadership extends to the institutional level as a Director of the AICE (www.aice.cl). In this role, he actively shapes the future of the profession by contributing to the development of national and international structural standards.

Fernando is currently expanding his leadership impact by studying Psychology, integrating human-centric principles into the engineering field. He firmly believes that technical excellence is inseparable from emotional safety and professional respect, fostering collaborative environments where innovation and operational safety thrive.

Prior to his current roles, Fernando held senior positions at global engineering powerhouses, including:
  • Design Leader & Senior Engineer at GHD, thyssenkrupp, and Fluor Corporation.
  • Head of Civil/Structural Department at Optimiza Ingeniería y Desarrollo.
  • Business Development Manager at Samsung C&T Corporation.
  • Lead Structural Engineer at Outotec and AMEC Minproc.

SkyCiv: Software de Análisis y Diseño Estructural

SkyCiv  es una plataforma de software para análisis y diseño estructural completamente basada en la nube, accesible desde cualquier navegador web o a través de su aplicación móvil. Esta flexibilidad operativa, sumada a la versatilidad que ofrece su  API , fue clave para que en  FYU engineering   decidiéramos incorporarla a nuestras herramientas de trabajo.
